For nearly a decade, Local Roots has been more than just a coffee shop. It’s been a place of connection, comfort, and community here in Kernersville, NC. If you’ve ever stopped in for your morning coffee, had a conversation that stuck with you, or found a moment of peace in your day - you know it’s never just been about the drinks.

Recently, we learned that Local Roots will be closing its doors on April 30th. Like many of you, this has been incredibly hard to process. As the news spread, so many of you came in - not just for coffee, but to share how much this place has meant to you. Some of you cried. Some of you hugged us. And so many of you have asked the same question: “Is there any way to keep this going?”

That’s where this plan was born. Instead of letting Local Roots fade away, we are actively working to bring it back in a new, more sustainable way - through a coffee trailer. This would allow us to:

•Stay connected to this incredible community

•Continue serving the drinks you love

•Remove the heavy overhead that led to the closure

•Gives us access to show up in new ways such as - events, local spots, and familiar places

Most importantly, it allows Local Roots to live on; Same name, same familiar faces.

I want to be fully transparent - this isn’t just an idea. My husband and I have been working quietly over the past several weeks to build a solid, thoughtful business plan.

Having worked inside Local Roots, I understand the day-to-day operations and what makes this place special. We have consistent, loyal customer demand and an outpouring of support. We’re currently working with a local contractor and have secured a trailer to begin this transition. We’re also in the process of locking in a stable, consistent location, so you won’t have to wonder, “Where are they today?”

With my background in finance and project coordination, we have a clear path forward to make this very sustainable. But starting this next chapter does require upfront investment and that’s where this community comes in.

This has never just been a job to me. Starting out as a regular, this has always been a place my family cares deeply about. The conversations, the connections, the familiar faces, that’s what makes Local Roots what it is.
