Our family, friends, and community are coming together to support Maresa Brazil, as she courageously battles an aggressive AML Leukaemia.

This diagnosis has turned Maresa and her husband Ron’s lives upside down. Watching someone we love, go through this is heartbreaking and terrifying, but through it all, Maresa continues to fight with incredible strength, courage, and hope.

Maresa is a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist who has spent her life helping others. Because of her illness and the intense treatments ahead, she has had to close her business and step away from her career and clients she loves so much.

Her husband Ron, a volunteer firefighter and a man who has always been there for others in our community, will also be away from work for the next 6 – 8 months to stay by Maresa’s side as she goes through her ongoing cancer treatment in St. John’s and then travels to Ottawa for a stem cell transplant.

Together, they have given so much to Labrador West and to everyone around them. Now it’s our turn to rally around them with love, support, and hope.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help ease the overwhelming financial burden that comes with:

• Loss of income while both Maresa and Ron are unable to work

• Medical and day-to-day expenses during treatments

• Accommodation and living expenses during their stay in St. John’s

• Travel to and from Ottawa for the Stem cell transplant
