My beloved pet Brut is facing the fight of his life. Just last month, Brut underwent a splenectomy and, for a while, it seemed like he was on the road to recovery. But soon after, he started having GI issues almost every Sunday, which led to multiple vet visits, medications, food changes, fluids, x-rays, and ultrasounds. I was so worried about his health that I decided not to risk a long drive back to Arkansas for Christmas, and we stayed home instead.

Now, four weeks after his surgery, Brut developed new symptoms that sent us to the Emergency Vet at Med Vets in Atlanta. The initial tests were inconclusive, so we returned the next morning to see the radiologist. That’s when we got the devastating news: Brut has a mass or tumor and is battling sepsis. His prognosis is 50/50, and he’s headed into emergency surgery. I’m heartbroken and scared, especially during the holidays, but I’m determined to do everything I can for him.

The costs of emergency surgery, ongoing care, and treatments are overwhelming. I’m reaching out for help—whether it’s prayers, positive energy, or financial support. I know everyone is feeling a financial burden during the holidays, but any amount helps. I’m not asking for folks to cover the total cost, as I understand my pet is my responsibility. This has just hit me at a very financially strained time of the year, and the fundraiser amount is not even half of the unexpected cost I have incurred.
