For the past month, Sabrina Mohad has been locked inside an ICE detention center after she and her mother went to their required immigration check-in in San Antonio. They walked in to do the right thing… but they never walked out. Since that day, their lives are filled with fear, loneliness, and sleepless nights. This Christmas, while families gather to celebrate, Sabrina and her mother sit behind cold walls, with no one to comfort them because they’re not together, no warmth, and no home.
She and her mother fled Venezuela to survive, after enduring brutal physical and psychological torture that nearly cost them their lives. Deporting them would send them straight back into the nightmare they barely escaped. Their only “crime” was wanting to live.
Sabrina’s first hearing is on January 13, and every two weeks she will face another, until the third and final court date. If we cannot pay their bond before that last hearing, Sabrina and her mother will be deported, despite the severe danger they face. Time is running out, and every day that passes, their fear grows.

Una Navidad tras rejas por cumplir con la ley
Sabrina Mohad lleva un mes presa en una prisión de ICE después de ir a cumplir con su cita de inmigración junto a su mamá en San Antonio. Entraron por la puerta para hacer lo correcto… y no volvieron a salir. Desde aquel día, sus vidas se han convertido en miedo, frío y soledad. Esta Navidad, mientras el mundo celebra en familia, Sabrina y su madre se encuentra rodeadas de muros y desconocidos, sin una mano que las consuelen ya que ambas están separadas, sin abrazos, sin su hogar.
Ella y su mamá huyeron de Venezuela para salvar sus vidas, después de sufrir torturas físicas y psicológicas terribles que casi las llevan a la muerte. Si las deportan, volverán exactamente a ese mismo infierno del que escaparon. Su único “delito” fue querer vivir.
El 13 de enero comenzará el juicio de Sabrina, y cada dos semanas enfrentará nuevas audiencias hasta llegar a la tercera y final. Si para ese momento no logramos pagar la fianza, Sabrina y su mamá serán deportadas, aún cuando su vida corre peligro. El tiempo corre en su contra, y cada día que pasa, su miedo aumenta.
