My name is Jamey and I am a longtime employee of MIX, 2nd Fir Supper Club, and The PIT in Long Branch New Jersey. If you have ever walked through our doors, you have probably met Sammy and Michael- and if you haven't, you would have felt their energy from all that they have cultivated in these spaces. But they are more than just the people behind the menus and the spaces, they are the heart of the business, pillars in the community, and the soul of our little restaurant family for the last 25 years.

As you may know, Chef Sammy has been fighting a brave battle with head and neck cancer for the last 20 years, winning the battle each and every time. Unfortunately, we recently received news that the cancer has returned. This next fight is going to be even tougher and will require both Sammy and Michael to step away from the restaurants and focus on intensive therapy and recovery.

Running a restaurant is a labor of love, but it doesn't leave much room for unexpected medical crises. Without Sam in the kitchen and Michael in the office every day, the financial strain from medical, travel, and personal expenses is mounting.

Coupled with the loss of their lease at The MIX and The Supper Club, some tough decisions had to be made to ensure Sam can fight this with everything he has without worrying about whether the lights stay on at home or at the restaurant.

All donations will go directly to Chef Sam Nativo to help cover:

- Uncovered medical expenses and specialized care.

- Living expenses while both are unable to work.

- Financial Startup for The PIT's 2026 Summer Season.

For years Sam and Michael have been the ones feeding our community and supporting local causes. Now it is our turn to fill their plates with the love and support they deserve. Every dollar- even just the cost of a cup of coffee-makes a big difference.
