A chance to rebuild a home for Steele & Maurice
Donation protected
Our dear friends, Steele and Maurice, have lost everything in an apartment fire which occurred on Friday the 8th of September 2023. Myself (Nu) and Bec lifelong friends, are raising funds on behalf of these 2 beautiful humans to give them a chance to get back on their feet and create a new safe space to call home.
Both immigrated to Canada over 7 years ago, they met here, fell in love here, and in those years have built a wonderful life together. The magnitude of this loss is just unfathomable. Our hearts were broken upon hearing that everything they owned is now perished. Maurice is an undeniably talented artist with countless hours of creations just gone- This was his passion and hopeful side business. Steele too, a passion for candle making and experimenting with scents. These 2 show SO much compassion for others every day to so many people through their respective jobs as a; tour guide, a leader, a mentor and ultimately the unbiased non-judgmental friend everyone needs. We would love for some good karma to find its way back to them.
Given they had lived in this home for the last 5.5 years and the severe rental crisis in Vancouver, the price jump is, well, we don't need to talk about the obvious... We would love to support Steele and Maurice by providing the next 2 months of rent to allow them time to grieve, rebuild their home life, restock on some much needed art supplies and mediums.
Already in the last 48 hours we've had a few friends come together to support us with re-furnishing and basic kitchen supplies which has been so overwhelming, our hearts are truly exploding!
If you can't afford to give, we understand. Absolutely 100%! But any small (or large) amount will help. Something else that's pretty free to do, is sharing this with others. Seeing a community come together is a mind blowing thing to experience. We appreciate you with our unwavering love x
