Hi, my name is Shawn Proulx, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend and brother, Robert (Rob) Pape, to raise funds for his ongoing battle with severe health challenges.
Rob is not only a beloved friend to many, but also a devoted husband to Shannon and a proud father to Jack and Amelia. For over 20 years, Rob has been a driving force in the music community of Medicine Hat, dedicating his heart and soul to fostering artistic expression and bringing people together.
As the Executive & Artistic Director of the Medicine Hat Folk Music Club, CEO of RoadWorn Productions & Management, and a judge at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards, Rob has significantly shaped our local music scene. He’s the creative mind behind celebrated events like the Tongue on the Post Festival and Porch Fest, both of which have brought numerous talented musicians to Medicine Hat and created unforgettable experiences for our community.
Unfortunately, Rob’s life took a difficult turn when he was diagnosed with facet osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease. These conditions have caused him constant pain and severely limited his ability to work and enjoy his life. Rob now faces the challenge of navigating treatments, therapies, and a long recovery process in order to regain his health and continue his essential work in the community.
The Challenge:
Facet osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease have made even daily activities increasingly painful for Rob, and his ability to work and create has been significantly hindered. Simple tasks have become major struggles, and the financial burden of managing his health has only added to the stress.
UPDATE (Feb 13, 2025): Rob has successfully undergone surgery, and we are hopeful for his recovery. More updates will be provided as we continue this journey.
How You Can Help:
The costs of Rob’s recovery are significant, and your support can make a difference. The funds raised here will go directly toward covering essential expenses, including:
Medical Expenses: Doctor’s visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, and prescription medications.
Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation: Ongoing therapy to help Rob manage pain, regain mobility, and prevent further deterioration.
Assistive Devices: Braces, canes, or other equipment to assist Rob with daily activities and help him maintain his independence.
Lost Income: Due to his limited ability to work, these funds will help cover living expenses and allow Rob to focus on his recovery.
No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a difference. Your support will ease the burden on Rob and his family and help them through this challenging time.
Sharing is Caring:
If you’re unable to contribute financially, please help by sharing this page with your friends, family, and community. The more people who know about Rob’s situation, the more support we can gather to help him recover.
Your kindness, generosity, and support mean the world to Rob, Shannon, Jack, Amelia, and everyone who has been touched by Rob’s work in the community. We’re deeply grateful for your help and for walking alongside Rob during this difficult chapter of his life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
