A Cello Bow for Taya's 40th!

Taya’s 40th birthday is coming up! We want to help Taya reconnect with an artistic pursuit that is close to her heart – playing the cello. Over the years her cello bow, which she got back in middle school, has fallen into disrepair. A quality cello bow is an investment, they are handcrafted from fine wood and horsehair with many intricate details. If you want to contribute to her bow fund, I know she will be so grateful! We’re keeping this a surprise to reveal on her birthday on January 25th so mums the word.

 

A little background - Taya is an incredible cellist! She started playing in the 5th grade and rose to 1st chair in both the Oberlin Public School orchestra and the North Ohio Youth Orchestra. She would practice daily and had a fierce dedication to her craft. Taya earned solos and awards throughout high school for her musical talent and she was a sight to see, playing with passion as though the music transported her. She continued to play during college and when she decided to move to New Orleans she packed her giant cello into her tiny Acura and headed across the country. As many of you know, she never made it to New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina and her cello stayed in Ohio for many years. In the late 2000s, Taya flew from Ohio transporting her cello back to Portland, anxiously watching it go through the checked baggage. Her instrument made it safely home with her and she picked it up from time to time, squeezing in practicing during those early years of TASI. As her business grew, Taya had less time to play and her bow fell into disrepair. She has longed to reunite with her passion for playing the cello and we hope this new decade of life will allow for the time and tools to find that transportation into the musical world once more.
