A Celebration of Women's Sports

A big thank you to my parents Eric & Debbie Schiffelbein for a donation they made! That has allowed me to lower the amount I now need to raise! Last summer, my daughter and I were talking about getting her softball team together to watch the Women's College World Series at a sports bar or something like that. On my way into work that morning, I thought, why stop there. I have worked with our Park & Recreation Department to create an event to celebrate women's sports and have a watch party for the Women's College World Series at Naftzger Park.

Former WNBA star Jackie Stiles will be the featured speaker on June 4th and Olympic Volleyball and League One Volleyball player Jordan Larson will speak on the 5th. There will also be food trucks, vendor booths, and a softball skills clinic will be conducted by SpinTech Academy. The professional softball organization Athletes Unlimited has agreed to have a booth with giveaways there as well. The speakers will take the stage at 5:45 and the live stream of the game begins at 7.

What started out as a small thing, has grown into this large event that I think could be special. I am just a dad wanting to set the example for dads everywhere that it is ok to celebrate women's sports in the same way we do men's sports.
