A Cast for Christmas
Donation protected
Hi my name is Avery, I am writing this on behalf of Gabriel Eberhard and the Eberhard family.
Gabe is one of the most big-hearted boys that I know…who is also crazy smart! Gabe was born with arthrogryposis, which is contractions of the joints and atrophy of the muscles. When he was born, his legs were crossed behind his neck and his ear was touching his right side. Praise God for his mercy and kindness with providing him with excellent doctors through his multiple surgeries.
In two weeks (December 14), Gabe, who is 10 years old, will go into Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children, to have bilateral femoral osteotomies and soft tissue release to permanently place his hips in a flexed position. His femurs will be cut and rotated and he will be casted that way for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, he will return to Philadelphia, to take his body cast off, have X-rays and then be admitted to Nationwide Children’s in Columbus for 2-3 months of inpatient rehab. This surgery will permanently negate his chances of walking but will allow him to sit comfortably and be more independent.
God has given Gabe such an amazing spirit! He finds joy in writing and is currently writing his Hallmark movie script “A Cast for Christmas.” :)
The best-case scenario is for Gabe and his amazing family to travel together. The Ronald McDonald House does not take families larger than 5 (they are a beautiful Catholic family of 10) so they need to seek hotel accommodations. They will need two adjoining rooms for approximately 5-6 nights. As well covering the food expenses for their family while they are in PA for Gabe’s surgery.
I am asking for your prayers and financial support as Gabe goes though this life altering surgery. For those of you who know the Eberhard’s, you know how wonderfully hospitable they are too so many, and I feel called to help them. Gabe has taught me this, and to love and trust in Our Lord.
Thank you for supporting my dear friend Gabe as he prepares for his “Cast for Christmas.”
With Love, God Bless,
Avery
