It took me a while to start a GoFundMe because I couldn't find the right words to say what was weighing heavy on our hearts.
My son and I are both domestic violence survivors and could use the support from our families, friends, and community around us. We are still fighting to this day to be free and are currently on our journey to genuinely healing.
After losing certain family members over the years, the lack of support in our lives has become dire.
I lost hope on a lot of dreams and goals due to feeling lost and stagnant for some time.
I have a handsome, resilient 5-year-old son who is saving me more than I can even begin to fathom.
My son is autistic, and due to the nature of his condition, we have a lot of obligations/therapies that we are not able to fulfill or are having difficulties obtaining.
As a single mother to an autistic child, I am reaching out to our community to wrap your arms around us and give us grace.
I don't want to write a sob story about our whole situation, but I think that it's important that you guys know the honest truth, and I must be transparent with our needs. I am making this GoFundMe because my son and I are in desperate need of a car. We had a car which provided us some financial stability in the sense of getting my son to important therapies, grocery shopping, washing clothes, and most importantly, me being able to maintain a stable job where I was providing private duty as my employment as a caregiver. Once we lost our car last March, I became very depressed and lost all hope. Certain therapies had to stop, clothes were starting to pile up, and I've had to spend extra money to get him to therapies and to order groceries in. I'm not asking for too much; I just need a reliable car that I would be able to get from A to Z, that's good on gas, and that will not break down on me. Honestly, there are only two barriers in our lives right now, and that is adequate child care and transportation. I feel if we were blessed with a car, it would eliminate 90% of our problems. I also want to be transparent in the fact that we need a car to be fully funded so I can sustain the car. I know that I am not in a position to make car payments; however, I will be able to keep up with the insurance. I don't need anything fancy; I don't even care if the car is used. I just need reliable transportation so I can go back to work and get my son to certain therapies that he needs, doctor appointments, as well as picking him up from summer camps or after-school care, also grocery shopping and being able to wash clothes frequently as we need. Please understand that your donations will not go in vain, and you are most certainly saving our lives. Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope that I was able to touch a few hearts today and we are able to obtain this goal promptly.
No matter how big or small, anything will make a difference.
