A Call to Help the Caleys

Donation protected
Christian Caley is 18 years old. On February 5th, 2020 he went in for a tonsillectomy. For almost a year he had been developing frequent infections and a growth on his left tonsil. Due to the size and fragility of the mass on his tonsil, the surgeon decided that it should be biopsied. The following Monday, February 10th, his family received the call that the biopsy results were positive for not one but two types of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. They would learn that Christian has both Follicular and Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. Follicular lymphoma is a form of cancer most common in patients over 60. Children 18 and under with this form of cancer make up less than 2% of pediatric NH lymphoma cases. Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma is a more common and more aggressive form of cancer in children but the two together are very rare. The combination is so rare that there are no studies or protocols for doctors to follow.

Within a week of diagnosis Christian had a PET scan, bone marrow biopsy, and heart echo. Due to the aggressive nature of this type of cancer, he has begun R CHOP chemotherapy treatments at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes in St. Louis.

We are asking for donations to help this amazing family. Many of us have been blessed having them in our lives. For those who do not know them, Andy Caley runs his own construction company. But it is more than that. He uses his company as a vehicle to employ and mentor men who need a second chance. It is hard to count the number of lives he has impacted. With the stock market falling, many of his upcoming jobs have been canceled. He admits that he worries about getting the funds needed to help his son.  Dana worked for many years at YoungLives which is an organization that supports and mentors teen moms. There she encouraged them to become the women and mothers that God created them to be. In 2019 she was presented with the YWCA Phoenix Award for her outstanding work. Individually and as a family (they have four children), they have been on numerous mission trips to both Haiti and Guatemala. On these trips they have helped build latrines and homes, served meals, hosted vacation Bible schools, given medicine to families living within a city dump and even preached at church gatherings.

The Caley family has blessed so many lives both locally and globally. Now is the time that we can be a blessing to them. Please donate to help with Christian’s fight. If you have had the pleasure knowing them, please share your stories with us.
