A call to help Brother Liam Davis!
Donation protected
My name is Peter Lynch and I'm raising funds to help brother firefighter, fellow cyclist, and young dad, Liam Davis following a catastrophic mountain biking accident. Many of us know Liam through his service as a volunteer firefighter in the Trumbull Center Fire Co, an EMT with Bridgeport AMR, or his time as career firefighter in New London. Liam was appointed to the Charlotte, NC Fire Department in the fall of 2022 and relocated to be a present dad, first, and secondly, to pursue his dream of being a firefighter in a major metro city. He is currently assigned to Engine 5
On March 30, 2024 was riding with his new cycling community in Charlotte for their annual "Tripple Dip" event when he misjudged a feature and came crashing down. He was able to get up, but quickly knew something was wrong and got back to the ground. He suffered fractures to his C1, and T2-T4 vertebrae that required emergency surgery. Fortunately, he did not suffer any neurological damage, but he will have to constantly be in a cervical collar for 3 months and then will require another 3 months of recovery until he can return to full duty.
Liam, like most firefighters, works overtime and side work just to make ends meet, an issue compounded by being at the bottom of the wage scale in one of the most expensive cities in the country. I'm calling on my fellow firefighters and cyclists to kick in a little something if you can. Please help our friend in need get back on his feet literally and financially (and maybe replace that bike too)
