A Call to Alumni: Restoring Ndow’s Legacy of Excellence for the Next Generation

Dear Alumni, Friends, and Supporters,

My name is Harriet Fofanah, and I am a proud alumna and the current Principal of the Junior & Senior Secondary Schools at Ndow’s Schools. I am reaching out with an urgent plea to our alumni, friends, and supporters: our beloved school needs our immediate support to restore the learning environment our students deserve.

The Need: One Campus, One Shared Responsibility

Ndow’s has always stood for academic excellence, discipline, and opportunity. Many of us are living proof of the foundation this institution gave us. Today, however, that same institution needs us. Classrooms, learning spaces, sanitation facilities, furniture, and key campus areas require urgent repair and renewal.

In addition, the Junior and Senior Secondary Schools are being merged onto a single, unified campus to restore our historic high standards, strengthen our community, and make better use of available resources. The school owners have already taken the commendable first step by beginning classroom renovations, but the full scope of work is far greater than current funds can support. With school reopening in September, the need is urgent and time-sensitive.

Where Your Donations Will Go

This is not simply a renovation effort; it is a necessary restoration of a school that has served generations. Your generous contributions will directly support the urgent repair, replacement, upgrade, and installation of:

 Student Comfort: Providing new desks, chairs, and whiteboards to replace worn-out classroom furniture and learning materials.

 Academic Infrastructure: Restoring the Science Lab, Computer Lab, and Library so students have access to proper spaces for learning, research, and practical work.

 Digital Transformation: Introducing essential digital infrastructure and interactive learning tools to help students compete in a modern academic environment.

 Health & Sanitation: Renovating student and staff toilets to provide safe, clean, and dignified sanitation facilities for the school community.

 Sports & Recreation: Repairing and upgrading our football, basketball, and volleyball facilities to support student development, recreation, and school pride.

 Campus Facilities: Upgrading student lockers, the cafeteria, staff rooms, offices, and drinking water facilities to create a more functional and welcoming campus.

 Safety & Security: Constructing secure fencing and installing CCTV cameras to help protect students, staff, and school property.

Transparency and Accountability

Because GoFundMe does not distribute funds directly to Gambian bank accounts, my fellow alumnus, Assan Manneh and Baboucarr Sallah are managing the financial logistics. All monies raised will be securely withdrawn and transferred directly to the school administration to support these urgent restoration projects. We will provide regular photo and video updates so donors can see the progress and impact of their support.

How You Can Help

Donate: No amount is too small. Every contribution helps repair a classroom, restore a facility, or provide the basic tools students need before the school bell rings in September.

Share: Spread the word with urgency. Share this appeal with fellow Ndow’s alumni, family members, friends, and social networks so we can reach as many supporters as possible.
