A Call from Mahmoud: A New Beginning After the War

My name is Mila and I live in so called victoria bc canada. My partner and I were approached by our friend Mahmoud for assistance with creating a Go Fund Me. The following is copied directly from Mahmoud, a Palestinian from Gaza living in Egypt whom is looking for assistance with rebuilding his family and his life after fleeing Gaza. All funds will be transferred directly to Mahmoud.

Statement from Mahmoud:

Peace be upon you,

I am Mahmoud, a 27-year-old Palestinian from Gaza. Like many of my fellow citizens, I have lived in Gaza under the pressures of a hard life and endless conflicts. Despite all the challenges, I had big dreams and was determined to achieve them.

After finishing my university studies, I faced difficulty in finding a job. However, I did not let this obstacle stop me from trying. My family and I decided to open a small business, a supermarket, that would allow us to secure our needs and live with dignity. This project was our only hope, and we took out a loan to make it happen.

In the beginning, things were going well. We worked hard and looked forward to a better future. But suddenly, the war came and everything was destroyed. Our project was completely demolished in moments, and we lost everything we had invested. Even the car I used to generate additional income was not spared from the destruction. Debts piled up, and our lives became even more difficult.

After five months of living under bombardment and terror, we made a tough decision. We left Gaza and moved to Egypt in search of safety and stability. We were forced to start anew in a foreign land, relying on God and the little hope we had left.

Now, as I write these words, my family and I are trying to stand on our feet again. We need your support to rebuild our lives and open a new business that will help us settle in Egypt. Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute to achieving this goal.
