A Brother's Family in Need: Support Shila's Critical Surgery
Donation protected
Masoud is a linguist I worked with in Afghanistan whose crucial translation skills kept me and other U.S. soldiers alive. His sister, Shila, in Kabul was recently diagnosed with a cystic lesion in her sinuses that's putting pressure on her carotid arteries. The condition has already blinded her in one eye. She needs emergency surgery in Pakistan to avoid further pain or complications (like infection), or she could go permanently blind in both eyes. The cost of travel plus the procedure is prohibitive, far exceeding what the average Afghan can afford. I realize things aren't getting any cheaper these days and everyone is trying to watch their pocketbooks. But you can make a direct impact on Shila's life today with a donation--every little bit counts! Please consider sharing and amplifying this fundraiser within your networks. Masoud, Shila, and I thank you for anything you're able to give.
