A Brother, and a Friend in Need. . .

We’re creating this page for a brother, and a best friend Larry Kunz jr.

Larry was born 59 years ago with Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida. At that time not much was known about this type of birth defect and little help was available. So he helped himself and never gave up. Eventually able to walk with leg braces and canes, and with the support of his family and friends, he was able to complete his education, become an accomplished musician, found a wonderful wife in Teri, and has been a great friend to everyone that’s known him. Unfortunately, after twenty-three years of marriage, and a valiant six-year battle against Breast Cancer, Teri was taken from us. Larry dedicated himself to her care recovery and now needs our help to facilitate his.

Larry’s in a wheelchair now, when he can climb into it. That’s a rare occasion these days, even with help. He’s been in and out of the hospital too many times to count over the years, but I’m sure he could tell us all exactly how many. This last time, a year and a half ago were for 148 days during which he had one leg, and part of his pelvis amputated. This surgery and extended bed rest created additional wounds that now need to be addressed. When he was released from the hospital, expecting home health care to assist him with his wounds and recovery, he was informed that he wasn’t eligible for any home care. Back in the hospital now since mid-November, he’s within days of running out of his Medicare days and fears he’ll be released again without the care he needs to make it through.

To continue his brave fight, Larry needs help to pay his medical bills, and a nurse to help him heal this time. Larry receives disability, however, this amount is not enough to cover even his basic needs, not to mention his medical bills and future expenses.

Although we hate to, we have to ask for your help in trying to provide Larry with a way to continue his fight towards a better quality of life. Anything you could spare would be so appreciated.
