A bridge in honor of Greg Grappone
Donación protegida
If you've explored the Winant trails in Concord near the hospital, you've probably encountered a section of muck and hobbled together pieces of wood sufficing as a bridge.
Greg Grappone hiked on the trails nearly every day when he lived in Concord and that section drove him crazy (mostly because of the bureaucratic backstory that didn't allow for a bridge to be built over said muck).
The hospital and city have agreed to let us build a bridge there, and it felt appropriate to do so in Greg's honor. He was an avid environmentalist and sat on the board of Five Rivers Conservation Trust, which holds an easement on the 85-acre park protecting it from development. Greg valued Concord's parks as one of the citys' greatest assets and, even during cancer treatments, regularly walked at Winant with his baby daughter strapped to his back. He sadly passed away in May of 2015 from complications from cuteanous T-cell lymphoma.
We are planning to build a 90-foot bridge across the muck and it will take a good amount of labor. The cost of the wood will be around $2,400. We will also design a placard dedicating the bridge to Greg.
If you'd like to volunteer your time, we will be building the bridge on Oct. 29th and 30th. Email Amy at [email editado] for details.
