If you ever met Shannon, you would immediately feel her caring and generous spirit, from her infectious smile to her effervescent personality. As a single parent of two teenage boys (ages 14 and 17), she is a hardworking and determined individual who is committed to excelling in her career, not just for herself, but also to uplift the entire company, its employees, and the community they serve.
By 2024, Shannon had earned a management position with the St. Louis Sinus Center, and she was determined to extend a hand to others so they too could have the opportunity to work for a company she believed in. Life was looking up, and her hard work and dedication gave her hope and optimism for the future.
Then came the dreaded words no young woman should ever hear: “You have breast cancer.”
Even during her intense chemotherapy treatments, Shannon continued to help others—because that is simply who she is.
Whether reaching out to other cancer survivors to offer hope and a listening ear, cheering up hospital staff with her sunny personality during frequent appointments, signing up to provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need, or creating and organizing a holiday coat drive for an underserved school to ensure children had new coats, Shannon never stopped giving. Her positive attitude seldom wavered, though there were dark times and significant challenges.
Over the past year, Shannon has shown unparalleled strength and resilience while fighting a fierce battle against stage 3 breast cancer. Throughout her treatment, she remained committed to her family and her career at the St. Louis Sinus Center, often putting on a brave face despite the pain and obstacles. She worked tirelessly during her treatment without financial support or taking FMLA leave. Many may not have even realized she was struggling—because she didn’t want her friends and family to be sad.
Recently, Shannon underwent reconstructive surgery—a necessary step in her cancer journey. Unfortunately, her application for financial assistance from the hospital was rejected, leaving her with mounting medical bills from chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries. The consequences of battling cancer go far beyond financial hardship. Putting a life on hold to fight illness brings many unintended challenges.
Now, Shannon could use our love, support, encouragement, and a resounding “we’ve got you”—the same spirit she has so freely offered to everyone she knows, and the spirit that makes her unforgettable to all of us.
Thank you for your support. Every contribution makes a difference for Shannon and her family. ❤️
