Now you’re probably wondering why I gathered you all here…
To close a funding gap, of course.
But, there's more. So, so much more.
On the eve of a half century of existence* I find myself presented with an opportunity unlike any I’ve encountered before… I’ve been invited to travel to the upper Amazon basin to work with Dr.
Andrew MacClean Pagon MD PHD and his team at his facility, outside Tarapoto, Peru. To learn about and assist in the traditional administration of native medicines.
I recently had a transformational experience with psychedelic medicine. It among the most profound events of my life. A large component of that event and of the healing I’ve encountered afterwards is an inherent need to help others find the same relief… In fact, I intend to let that light guide the rest of my life.
As some of you may know that my adult life has been spent in service of other people’s needs. I was a chef for 2 decades. I’ve been a carpenter, a painter, and a landscaper. Most recently, I spent 9 years meeting the technological needs of an army of educators in the battle to ensure our next generation is better prepared than the last. Day after day, I replaced broken iPads, restored erased files, and reconfigured Apple TVs for an exceptionally well-funded school district in the Chicago suburbs. It was an utterly wonderful job. I was largely surrounded by people who had dedicated their lives to the education of children. While the arcane politics of the public education system were something altogether new to me, they were close enough to the hierarchy of a kitchen and the support of family that I could readily assimilate.
When Covid changed the lesson plan and (sparing details) at a certain stage, I finally lost my spark and motivation - with it, I lost my inspiration for living. I’ve spent the last ~2 years trying to find my way in an increasingly chaotic world.
That’s led me pretty close to bottoming out again and finding myself homeless for the XX time in my life until my brother, sister and two of my best friends heard my cry for help.
Comes a time when the blind
Man takes your hand, says "Don't you see?
Gotta make it somehow on the
Dreams you still believe" don't give it up
You got an empty cup only love can fill
Only love can fill, only love can fill
Only love can fill

I believe in this dream.
Back to that funding gap.
In the spirit of my gifts and my intention to serve, I'd like to invite you all to attend what I'm calling my Bradython.
Harking back to fundraising telethons of old, and to honor those who will donate, I endeavor to spend 24 hours DJ-ing live on Twitch. A journey through my musical history. From jazz of the 50-60s to contemporary DUB and tech house I plan to spend the time exploring all the corners of the musical world that have brought me joy and inspiration over the last 50 years.
Bradytron's Bradython will occur on September 30th-October 1st, 2023 from 3:00-3:00PM. The Dawn of My 50th Year*. My Golden Jubilee.

I need $5000 to cover my travel and living costs while supporting the team in Peru. I've been told that the first $1000 will be matched by an anonymous donor.
I will be journaling and documenting my experience and look forward to sharing my travels and what I learn in every way that I can. Subscribe to my Substack for regular updates;
With love,
Brady.
