A Boy with a Brave Heart and a Big Dream
Hi, I’m Mandy… and I am the proud mumma bear of an incredible human... my 12 year old son... Kaeden!
This is hard as I have always been too proud (and stubborn) to ask for help. But this is too important to give up, and he is too special to miss out on achieving his dream of competing in the UK for martial arts.
My incredible son Kaeden is neurodivergent which means that he thinks differently which can impact his decisions, friendships, school, self-esteem and mental health.
But it also means that he is incredibly creative, compassionate, funny and passionate about sports and gaming. He is also an amazing friend to kids who take the time to understand him. However, teenage years can be really tough as social environments and social ques in a neurotypical culture can be difficult to navigate. Especially when he just wants to be friends with everyone.
If you hadnt guessed already, Kaeden lives with autism and ADHD. Every day has been a challenge—navigating a world that moves too fast, speaks too loud, and often sees his differences before his light.
But let me tell you a little about Kaeden...
• He is kind beyond measure and deeply compassionate.
• He is funny, cheeky and a natural comedian
• He is smart (even if he doesn’t believe it yet) and a whiz with numbers.
• And when he puts his mind to something, he absolutely shines.
After years of struggling with confidence, anxiety, and relentless bullying, Kaeden found something that changed his life… martial arts!
Since stepping onto the mat in October 2023 (his birthday), he has come alive. His spark had returned. His hyperfocus kicked in and he worked his way up to a blue belt (despite injuries) and was invited to participate in a MA Leadership Program. And while showing all his dedication, he was also invited to complete his Junior Instructor Course (not started yet).
Further to this, Kaeden has already competed in two regional championships, winning 2 bronze medals in hand drills and kickboxing drills, and also won 2 gold medals in 7-point sparring.
These moments have not only built his confidence—they’ve healed parts of him I thought may not recover.
But what is incredible, is that Kaeden has qualified to compete in the international martial arts championship held in the UK in October 2025. It is only held once every 2 years in the UK, so it is a huge honour to qualify.
For a boy who once struggled to walk into a classroom without fear... this is so much more than a competition. It’s proof that he belongs. That he’s strong. That he’s worthy. And that he can do it despite it all.
But we need help to get him there…
The cost for Kaeden to travel with his team (Matt Fiddes MA) and experience this event is approx. $5,000. As a solo parent, I’ve tried everything to save in time, but I can’t reach that amount before the 6th August 2025 payment deadline. (Kaeden's portion of the trip).
I never thought I’d be here, asking for help. But I know in my soul that this opportunity could shape Kaeden’s mindset for life. It will remind him, forever, that his differences are his strength—and that even the hardest challenges can lead to beautiful victories.
So, if you’re able to help Kaeden achieve his dream—whether it’s $5 or $50—please know it would mean more than words can say.
And if you can’t give, sharing this with friends & family means just as much.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in my baby boy. My little (not so little) legend, my best friend and my absolute world!
He’s come so far... and with your help, he can go even further!
He may be young, but his dreams are mighty and his determination and passion for MA is endless.
With love & gratitude…
Mandy & Kaeden xx
P.S. Please reach out if you would like to know more about the competition.
