A Boy Escaping a "Pray Away the Gay" camp

When I heard about Conversion Therapy some years ago, I started thinking about writing this musical as a way to create some blowback - but in an entertaining sort of way.

The project is a work for Musical Theater.

Short synopsis:

Sammy, a post-pubescent boy from Dixville, Tennessee, falls in love with musical theater after a trip to NYC. As he grapples with his emerging feelings for other boys, he faces rejection from his community and family. Sent to a conversion therapy camp, Sammy eventually escapes to New York, finding acceptance, a job, and pursuing his dream in theater.

The music ranges from tender ballad through thrash rock to anthemic, with some old-style Broadway uptempo 2-beat and retro swing.

Why are we looking to raise funds?

We need to hire singers for the demos, which are currently all AI-generated voice tracks -

and complete the orchestrations, upgrading the current piano-only tracks.
