Dad has been having some stomach issues over the last several months. We always assumed it was some type of virus. He had one of these episodes start last Sunday. On Thursday, I took him to Urgent Care. I could tell he was really dehydrated. He received fluids and went back home. My mom had to take him to the ER later that night. He was severely dehydrated and confused and his blood pressure incredibly low. Doctors at the Greer ER determined that a portion of Dad's colon was dead and was making him really sick. He was transferred to GHS downtown Friday night and had emergency surgery to remove the dead part of his colon. Surgery was life-threatening. There were so many people praying and with God's grace, the doctors were able to complete the surgery to remove the affected areas. Dad is in the ICU at GHS and waiting on the next surgery to reconstruct his bowel. Dad is dealing with a significant amount of pain as his incision is open until after the next surgery is completed and due to medicines is experiencing a lot of confusion. I doubt Dad will be home in time for Christmas. With some of his other medical issues, he has to be monitored closely. Mom and Dad both receive disability and what our government considers "enough" is often not enough. I have tried to think of ways that we
could bless them following this. I can't think of a more tangible way than to make the next few months when dad is recovering easier. If you can donate, please do so. Thank you all and Merry Christmas!
