My name is Tristan Taylor, and I am a Black Lives Matter activist born and bred in Detroit. I have been active in the fight against against Trump, ICE, the genocide in Gaza, and many other struggles of the working class and oppressed.
As a member of Left Voice, which is a socialist publication and organization, I have been given a wonderful opportunity to speak at an internationalist and anti-imperialist rally in Sao Paolo, Brazil organized by the Trotskyist Fraction. I will be joining the stage with an activist who was part of the Flotilla, a Brazilian oil worker fighting to end Brazil’s oil sales with Israel, and revolutionary Congresspeople from Argentina who used their recent inauguration to denounce the genocide in Gaza and the Far-Right that is in power in Argentina.
While in Brazil, I will also be participating in a conference that will have delegates from 17 different countries, including Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, France, Italy, South Korea to name a few. At the conference, we will discuss the different struggles and experiences of workers in different countries, and ways to build solidarity with one another with a common program and organization of the working class and oppressed people all across the globe.
I will also get a chance to talk to Black activists and revolutionaries in Brazil, which is a country that was also formed through chattel slavery and has the largest Black population outside of Africa. So to say that I am excited about the experience is an understatement.
Preparing for the trip and buying the tickets has been financially challenging for me, so I am asking for help so that I can take full advantage of my time in Brazil, which will help strengthen the work that I do in Detroit and the work of Left Voice.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps. So please consider giving what you can to help me continue my activist work fighting racism, oppression, and exploitation.
