My friends and family here is my story that I want to share with you in these hard times.
My name is Gor Yazaryan
For me family means everything. Growing up in Armenia I was taught by my parents that family isn’t just by blood relation, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs. It means being part of something wonderful. Being surrounded by people who love you and want you to succeed. It’s the individuals who represent the foundation of who You are and you’ve become in life. My family has always been there for me, in good times and not so good times. If it wasn’t for them and my parents, I am not sure where I would be today. Having to see my mother do everything to raise me right and to go through so much so I’d become who I am today. Having to see my father work day in and day out to provide and support us with everything we needed. Being the only child, my parents had taught me the real meaning of family and to be a hardworking individual. As I was nearing manhood my father gifted me a beautiful family home that he built himself. Me being in my early 20s I wasn’t In a position to live there by myself. So In the coming years we had made it into a kindergarten and a children’s center. In 2019 the children’s center closed down and I was cemented at the thought of what to do with this property. I decided to open a cocktail house, restaurant and lounge.
Absorbing the energy I gained opening a new business I decided to take a small business loan out to better the property and make the dream lounge we envisioned come true. Sculpting our dream cocktail house form the ground up we decided to name it Maquette Cocktail House. It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Our wonderful team of employees, friends, and family helped bring our home to life, but Unfortunately when we decided to open our doors, the pandemic hit.
Let's face it. Scaling your business is hard. It takes considerable effort. In the beginning, it means wearing different hats. It means dealing with sales and marketing. It means understanding the business and what’s surrounding it. It involves having to interact with customers on a daily basis, and so much more. At the end of the day, it takes its toll on you. Imagine preparing for all that but dealing with the world wide shutdown of cities and businesses for the sake of public health. It’s unimaginable what we had to deal with.
With the sudden approach of the corona virus we had no other choice but to shut down the business that we had never started to begin with. Like everyone else we had no clue when, what, or how long this would take. But for us the impact was very dire. we had just taken out a small business loan which we had to pay off monthly. As if the pandemic wasn’t enough our country went trough a war which killed a lot of Armenian soldiers and ruined a lot of lives. We went through 44 days of suffering which led our country to crumble. Even then we switched our efforts in helping displaced families and giving them shelter and donating money to our soldier to provide them with food, gear, and sleeping bags. In those dreadful days we tried to help and lighten the burden of our soldiers and their families.
As our people mourned and as we picked ourselves up, After a year of uncertainty we finally open our doors to the public. Manifestly practicing Covid-19 safety and health regulations we once again jump started our engine to serving our people. Having the right team at Maquette we worked day in and day out to help our business grow. But we’re in so much Dept that we are struggling to stay afloat.
As a small business we are beginning to feel the effects of the pandemic and the war we have withstood. It’s up to us to do whatever we can to survive, but with your help of course. Making a donation of $ 5- $50, you will receive a lovely membership card which will give you and 2% cash back with your membership.
