A Big Heart for Aaron

I wanted to take a moment to update and thank everyone who has contributed to my GoFundMe to date. Sadly, the need for chronically ill people like myself to have to resort to GoFundMe reveals the deficiencies in our healthcare system. In fact, approximately one-third of all GoFundMe campaigns are designed to address the costly medical expenses, insurers won’t cover. For me it’s been items like transportation for life-sustaining treatment and services that are not available through hospitals in my area, co-pays, expensive, but necessary, medications, and on-going monitoring and testing. As a result, many like me, are forced to resort to crowdsourcing to afford life sustaining medical care.

Thanks to you, we are now only $9600 away from our goal. Your contribution has allowed me to obtain more comprehensive medical insurance in the form of Medicaid which provides round-trip transportation to my various end stage heart failure appointments in New York City and meet the exorbitant costs related to my many tests and on-going monitoring. For the last two months I have not had to skip appointments or leave before taking tests I cannot afford, but most importantly, because I have been able to meet the monthly $800 Medicaid spend-down balance I now have the insurance necessary to maintain my position on the National Transplant Registry. Of parallel significance, I have once again been able to afford ALL of my medications and was feeling strong enough to finally travel to spend time with my family and have attached some photos of the time that we spent together. And, for these great gifts, I cannot thank you enough.

As we attempt to raise this last $9600 I would ask that you please repost this campaign and encourage those you may know to open their hearts and give. No amount is too small.

The funds from this campaign will continue to be administered by my mother, Linda Dare-Walton, and used exclusively to help meet my on-going medical insurance payments, medical bills, medication and other medically related expenses, and heart transplant related costs.
