A Big Bang - a Family is Left with Nothing

Dear friends and family,
While everyone is celebrating the holidays, in an instant a family lost everything in an explosion that came from their neighbor’s house. So while we’re getting ready for parties and celebrations, they are desperately working to get back on their feet with the basics. Mid December in the early hours of the morning a vacated house in Lowell, Michigan exploded. Thankfully no one died the but the devastation it caused extended out for miles. The worst affected were Fritz and Anna who lived next door. They lost all their personal belongings, both cars, a lifetime of photos, heirlooms and cherished items. To get the point across the house in the picture is THEIR house, the one that exploded is the pile of rubble in the front.
By the grace if God they are still here with us as they were able to climb over dry wall, battle through smoke and fire and escape with their lives only suffering minor injuries. While grateful to be living the harsh reality is that their is much ahead of them. Below is the post from Anna on her Facebook, these words show strength and character beyond her years:
"Whoa. Everything I owned, everything I’d ever accomplished in my life, was tumbling over me, pounding and crushing down. I didn’t know what was happening at the time, all I knew was we had to get out of that house. And by the grace of god, we did.
Standing outside in dead of winter with nothing but our pajamas on, Fritz holds me. “Everything’s OK, baby. We’re safe.” He knows these are the best words to say to me. Safe—my entire life, that’s all I’d ever wanted to feel. In th...at moment, with all that was going on around us, I felt safe. I felt alive.
Many have said, “what a shame, they lost everything! Their house and everything in it is completely destroyed.” Everything is in fact destroyed, but I LOST NOTHING.
I repeat, I lost nothing. I have the love of my life – and our dog. We escaped. We are alive. We are safe.
I feel blessed, I feel radiant, I feel massively grateful, and I feel ALIVE.
I love you all so very much"
