I did my primary school in Didy , Madagascar, a village situated about 51 km from the nearest city. Now I have a PhD in Astronomy and I am a professional Astronomer at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia in Spain. Being a schoolboy in such a village with poor facilities, I would never imagine that one day I would obtain a PhD in Astronomy. During my recent visit to Didy and I am saddened to see that no improvement has been made since I left the school. Even worse, the school is in total disrepair as seen in the cover photo above and the picture below. Given that cyclone is very frequent in Madagascar, the school is at a high risk of falling down.
The school definitely needs reconstruction. There are 4 blocks but two are far worse than the others. The director of the schools and some teachers have asked me to seek funding to reconstruct the school and I am now kindly asking for your help to build better school infrastructures and facilities for the children in Didy. Didy is a wonderful place surrounded by rainforest. However, the rainforest is getting destroyed, I believe that only education can change this. Your donation will help build a better future for children in Didy and I hope that more students from this village will obtain a PhD. The money raised from this fundraising will be used to reconstruct the school.
