For anyone who knows our dad, knows how strong willed he is! He is the one who taught us to be independent; so, asking for help is extremely difficult for us.
Our daddy’s health issues began in 2000. His left leg was crushed by a forklift and it had to be put back together with plates and screws. This accident left him in a hospital bed for six months and unable to walk independently for a year. In 2007, Daddy’s leg became infected. They had to go in and remove some of the metal from the forklift accident. It was during this procedure that we learned of his diabetes.
We took a family trip to Daytona Beach for Father’s Day in 2013. While walking along the beach, Daddy developed a blister on his right foot that never went away. Thanksgiving 2013 he had to be admitted to Piedmont in Atlanta. It was during this hospital stay we discovered that Daddy had contracted MRSA, a severe, contagious form of Staph.
In 2017, Daddy was in a major car wreck. This accident resulted in broken ribs, damaged liver & kidneys, and resulted in the removal of his spleen. The infection reached the bone of his left foot in 2019 and resulted in the amputation of one a toe and part of his left foot. Now, as I am writing this, our daddy is in surgery have a portion of his left leg removed.
Over the past 20 years, our dad has had 14 surgeries. Our momma has been by his side through all of them, despite having health issue of her own.
My brother and I are asking for your help! Our goal is to raise money to get our parents into a Handicap Accessible home and assist with daddy’s medical expenses. God has already answered many of our prayers and we feel EXTREMELY blessed to have our parents here with us. We know not everyone will be able to donate. We would just like to ask you to please keep our family in your prayers and share our story!
We thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts!
