In the short term, you are helping to reunite Jeremiah and his kids so they can spend Thanksgiving together.

In the long term, you are helping Jeremiah pay back the massive debt taken on to be represented by the lawyer fighting for a better future for his kids. Also, to replace their household items so he and his kids can live a normal life again.
