A Better and Safe Home for Billy and Julie Dyson
Donation protected
In November Billy and Julie Dyson went to go visit their daughter in Rhode Island to help her out with her one year old while she would give birth to her newborn . They were helping her also adjust while she was on maternity leave and her husband was working full-time. They asked a close friend to watch the house while they were gone, and within a month of them being gone a pipe burst. When they returned home after 3 months of helping her daughter and husband. They discovered their house was flooded due to a pipe burst. They found out the friend never checked on the house. Julie called the phone company and they said her bill went up drastically on the 15 of December. This is when the pipe must of burst halfway through their stay with their daughter.
When they returned home and opened the front door, water gushed out. When they went inside they found the entire floor covered in a foot of water. The walls were dripping as well as the ceiling. Because the water was running for three months green, black, and red mold grew on all their belonging, walls, and floors. Everything has to be gutted out and replaced.
The friend who didn't check on the house volunteered her and her husband to do all the work. Unfortunately, they did not finish the job and what they did do was done incorrectly. After a month of working on it, they left walls open, and pipes are not working. They made new walls but never insulated them. As well as used supplies that were not meant for the job. Now most of the work they did has to be redone.
Billy and Julie do not have the funds to complete this project because Billy is a cancer survivor and Julie has to take care of him full time. They are capable of doing some work but due to his condition they do not have money to complete it. Currently they can not live at the house with mold and will have no home until the remolding is done.
The funds will be strictly used for supplies to redo the house and replace appliances and furniture that was destroyed due to the mold and water damage. Funds will also be used for labor so the house can be complete.
