We are raising funds to place a memorial bench for our son Oscar in his favourite place, Doe Bank Park — a lasting tribute to a boy who meant so much to so many.

Our beloved son, Oscar Jealous, was taken from us far too soon. In his short life, Oscar made an extraordinary impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was kind, brave, and full of life — a young man who brought people together and left a lasting impression in this world.

Oscar loved being outdoors, especially at Doe Bank Park. It was one of his favourite places, where he could be free and have fun. You would often find him running around the field, playing football with his brother Charlie, laughing on the swings, or racing us to the zip line. He was full of energy, always “running riot” in the best possible way, bringing joy and life wherever he went.

Since losing Oscar, we have wanted to create a lasting tribute in his memory — a place where people can sit, reflect, and remember him. A memorial bench in Doe Bank Park feels like the perfect way to honour his life and ensure his spirit remains part of the place he loved so much.

Unfortunately, applications for memorial benches had been closed, and we were unable to move forward with this tribute. But we have recently learned that applications are open again, giving us the chance we have been hoping for.

We are now raising funds to help secure a memorial bench in Oscar’s name. This bench will not only be a tribute from our family, but a place for the whole community — a space to remember Oscar, to share stories, and to find a moment of peace.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us bring this tribute to life. We are deeply grateful for the continued love and support from everyone who remembers Oscar and keeps his memory alive.
