A Beloved Mother - Judy Thorburn

Donation protected
At 15:23 on 1st July 2019, my sister and I lost our beloved, beautiful mother, Judy Thorburn. She was 59 years' old and tragically lost her life so suddenly to a ruptured brain aneurysm.
To say we are utterly devastated is an understatement.

We want to raise awareness over what happened, because her death could have been avoided, and if her story can save just one person, then her death will not have been in vain.
My mum suffered with frequent migraines - she had done for some years. However, over the past few months, those migraines became more constant and consistent, her memory would go, she would have sickness, and, on occasion, hide herself in a dark room until it went away. After 24 hours, and a couple of painkillers, she would back to normal and nothing more would be thought of it, until the next time.
Naturally, me and my sister are wishing we'd taken it more seriously and urged her to go to the doctors. Had she done so, she would have discovered she had dangerously high blood pressure. She would have been prescribed medication, possibly had surgery to rid her of anything life threatening, but we most certainly would still have her here with us today, going about her routine, taking my niece on holiday, shouting at me for not washing the dishes and everything else that we might have taken for granted, expecting to have another 20+ years with her.
Instead, this silent killer took away a wonderful, bright light and destroyed an entire family, leaving them in total darkness.

My mother was a kind, giving, generous soul who was taken far too soon and unnecessarily.
Not only was she a mother, she was a sister, a nan, a friend, and, to me and my sister, our world.

There are no words that will ever describe the level of heartache, pain and loss that we are experiencing, and we have received so many kind and supportive words from people that knew and loved her, people that want to help, to ensure she's given everything she deserves and more.

Our mum was one of the most helpful, caring and hard-working people we knew, always happy to help those in need in whatever way she possibly could. She was a selfless woman who worked her entire life, cared deeply about those in her life, and made every effort to know that me, my sister and her grandchildren were loved with everything she had to give.

She was so generous and caring, in fact, that, after me and my sister made the difficult decision to donate her organs, she saved the lives of four people by giving what can only be described as one of the world's most magical gifts. She gave hope and happiness to four families and we could not be more proud of her for that.

We want those that love and care for our mum to be able to say goodnight and goodbye to her in the best way possible, because she deserves nothing less. We've been asked by people how they can do that, and this is how.

With anything left over, we will donate that money to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation in my mum's name, in order for her to continue helping those that need it.

Again, my sister and I cannot thank everyone enough for the support that's been given and offered. We had not realised just how much our mum meant to so many others and we are completely overwhelmed by your kind words.

Mum, your light will go on shining through all of us and everything Kirsty and I do, will be for you. We will continue to make you proud of us because we love you so, so much and will miss you with every single beat of our hearts.

Sleep well beautiful angel, until we see you again xXxXx
