Faye was 62 years old, born on June 2, 1963. She was a loving mother to my mom and uncle, a proud grandmother to many, and she even got to meet her great-granddaughter — her chunky monkey that she held close to her heart.
In October 2024, on Halloween, she was diagnosed with Leukemia. From that moment on, she faced everything with a kind of strength that’s hard to put into words. She went through the long and uncertain process of searching for a bone marrow transplant, and when she finally received one, we were hopeful. But complications followed, and she developed graft versus host disease. Her body ultimately rejected the transplant.
The last decade of her life was filled with the kind of happiness that comes from being surrounded by people you love. Our family is a little unconventional for many reasons. My parents bought the house right behind us so we could all be close, and because of that, we built something really special. We shared meals, barbecued often, went on camping and fishing trips, and spent countless ordinary days together that now mean everything.
She was the kind of person who showed up, no matter what. Kind, forgiving, and always willing to drop anything for the people she loved. She carried so much in her life, but never let it harden her. If anything, it made her softer, more giving, more human. Her determination, and stubbornness, to keep going, and to keep loving, is something that will stay with all of us.
We are planning a simple memorial and cremation, along with one final camping and fishing trip as she wished — something she loved and wanted.
The funds raised will help cover her medical expenses, cremation, urn, and memorial. More than anything, we want to give her a goodbye that reflects the love she gave so freely.
Thank you for your support. And if you knew her, even briefly, you know how special she was. We hope to carry her memory forward in the same way she lived — with love, resilience, and care for others.
