Imagine just getting back on your feet, as an artist, after losing your livelihood as a teacher during the pandemic, and then on the day of your art opening, you were bowled over by a couple of exuberant pups in a dog park, suffering multiple fractures that would leave you out of commission for months. Unable, again, to work or even drive a car. That’s what happened to my sister, Stefanie Lieberman,
one week ago yesterday. Since then, she has seen some of the ugliest sides of the healthcare system. She spent nearly a week languishing and neglected in a so-called rehabilitation center, without access to pain meds or even ice packs to deal with the pain and inflammation! I am just glad that I was there to advocate for her and be her squeaky wheel! She is now in a wonderful facility, receiving proper care, but she has a rough road ahead, which will entail months of PT and OT until she can return to teaching her art classes and painting commissions. In the meantime, the medical bills will pile up, along with the normal expenses of being a single homeowner, especially of an older home that is in need of repairs. I know that she is very prideful and rarely, if ever, asks for help. And I know she will be beside herself when she finds that I have gone ahead with this campaign on her behalf. But the fact is SHE NEEDS OUR HELP!!! I know these are trying times, but I implore you to consider giving any amount you can afford. I love her more than life itself. She is my twin. And I will do anything to help her get back on her feet again. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
