Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
Today, I come to you with a plea for help on behalf of my beloved father, Sam Schrum, who has been enduring a tumultuous medical journey since 2009. His unwavering strength and determination have carried him through numerous health challenges, but now we find ourselves facing a critical turning point that requires immediate assistance.
In October of 2019, my father experienced a life-altering heart attack, which was further complicated by an aortic dissection. Following a life flight to UPENN and a 10 hour heart surgery, he spent eight long weeks in a coma, he miraculously emerged from the depths of uncertainty and embarked on an arduous path of recovery.
Unfortunately, this ordeal left my father with severe neuropathy in his legs, rendering him unable to walk without assistance. The neuropathy has resulted in several devastating falls, each taking a toll on his fragile body. Tragically, one of these falls led to a concussion and brain bleed, subsequently triggering a seizure earlier this year.
Today, my father's health has deteriorated at an alarming rate, landing him once again in the confines of the ICU. The medical team has successfully halted the recent bleeding in his brain, but the battle is far from over. He is unable to have surgery due to the fact that he has an aneurysm in his aorta and the risk is too high. While we remain hopeful for his imminent release, we face the daunting task of arranging long-term care to provide the round-the-clock support he requires to regain stability.
We humbly reach out to you, dear community, to help us raise $50,000 to cover the mounting medical expenses and secure the much-needed long-term care for my father.
The funds will be allocated towards the following critical needs:
1. Medical Expenses: The financial burden of ongoing treatments, surgeries, and medications has become overwhelming. Your contribution will help ease this burden and ensure he receives the best care available.
