AYUDEMOS A ANDREA A LUCHAR CONTRA LA ESCLEROSIS MULTIPLE

ANDREA BAUER. Ecuadorian woman, married, age 49. Mother of three children: Alejandra, Marthina, Matias. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, and her pathology was confirmed thru a magnetic resonance taken in her hometown at a local hospital in Quito, Ecuador. Her illnes appeared when she noticed she began to loose equilibrum and started to drag her right leg while walking without any apparent reason. Due to these sympthoms, she was alarmed and the investigation of the problem started. When she received her diagnosis, at the beginning, Andrea was devastated.

After investigating how the illness behaves, Andrea found out that her health condition does not have cure; however, it has medical treatmet that stops the progress and somehow heals the pain. Because in Ecuador are so few MS patients, medicine is scarce, and if it is found, it is extremely expensive, very dificult to be paid. Two months ago, Andrea stopped walking because her spinal cord got affected. Her day to day is complicated since she is lying in bed by now and needs medical assistance in order to survive and overcome the pain. Andrea needs to be treated by specialized neurologists either in Colombia or Mexico and does not have a private insurance coverage for her treatment neighter in Ecuador nor outskirts. Her Multiple Sclerosis, can not wait to be treated, since it is a degenerative pathology full of pain. Without treatment, she is getting worse. By now, Andrea is extremely weak and has difficulty to breath. Andrea needs urgent help in order to receive her treatment and stop that hard disease. She wants to get recovered in order to keep sharing with her children and see their dreams come true.

ANDREA BAUER. Ecuatoriana, casada de 49 años. Es madre de tres hijos, Alejandra, Marthina y Matias. Hace dos años le diagnosticaron ESCLEROSIS MULTIPLE, y su patologia se confirmo mediate una resonancia magnetica que le realizaron en el hospital. Todo empezo cuando empezo a perder el equilibrio y a arrastrar su pierna derecha sin aparente razon. Debido a estos sintomas se alarmo y empezo toda la investigacion. Cuando recibio su diagnostico, al principio como es logico, se devasto. Investigando sobre la enfermedad, descubrio que a la actualidad, esta no tiene cura aun. Sin embargo, existe tratamiento con el cual se le puede ayudar a detener el progreso de la enfermedad. Debido a que no existen muchos casos en ECUADOR, la medicina es escasa y muy costosa, imposible de poderla pagar. Hace dos meses Andrea dejo de caminar, ya que se encuentra afectada su medula espinal, y su dia a dia, se ha complicado de sobremanera en cama y con asistencia medica para poder sobrevivir. Andrea necesita ser taratada por neurologos especialistas en Colombia o Mexico y lamentablemente no tiene un seguro medico que cubra su enfermedad, ni adentro y tampoco afuera del Ecuador. La esclerosis multiple no puede esperar a ser tratada, dado que es una enfermedad degenerativa y muy dolorosa. Sin tratamiento, ha seguido empeorando. Tiene extrema debilidad y cada vez mas le cuesta respirar. Andrea necesita ayuda urgente para poder recibir tratamiento y medicina para detener su enfermedad. Quiere recuperarse para para poder seguir compartiendo con sus hijos y ver sus sueños cumplir.
