HELP!! We need $6,000 IMMEDIATELY for an emergency order!!!
Three weeks ago, Child Protection Services came into Taliyah's home and removed her and her brothers and sisters from her father's care. Accusations had come in against him for physical abuse, drug use, and even the possibility of child trafficking Taliyah for drugs had been brought to the authorities' attention.
Taliyah was put in emergency foster care, and two days later, she celebrated her 7th birthday alone. Earlier this week (July 10-13), her Auntie in Atlanta heard through an anonymous phone call that all of this took place and that Taliyah needed help. She & her daughter hopped in the car, drove all night to Mississippi, and met with CPS and with lawyers to find out what she needed to do to get custody and bring Taliyah home safely. Prayer requests went out, and we all have been believing for her to be able to bring Taliyah home so she can begin her journey of healing and ultimately be free from the abuse and finally in a safe and loving home.
When Marissa arrived, she discovered that she may have been too late. The court had already decided to remove her from her father's care BUT was sending her to live with his elderly aunt.... ONLY 1 MILE AWAY FROM HIS HOME! They completely blew Marissa off and only gave her a 2-hour visit. Taliyah cried and begged her case worker to let her stay with her Auntie, but she was simply told it was time to go. CPS said they would ask his Aunt if she would be allowed to have further visitation with her.
Marissa was able to meet with a great lawyer from the community. He shared that there was still a chance to put in a request for an emergency court hearing. This would petition the judge for Taliyah to move to Georgia with her instead. Unfortunately, the fee for this is far from cheap. For the emergency court hearing to be filed, $6,000 must be wired immediately. Another $10,000 is due in the upcoming weeks.
Without this money, we are all afraid that Taliyah will be unable to escape her father and the cycle of abuse could continue. Taliyah desperately wants to live with Marissa and her family, but because of her age and the investigation against her father, she has no say in her own future. And the broken CPS system is failing her!
We are desperate. Without the help of this lawyer, there is no hope. Please help us bring Taliyah home with Marissa and let her family and community love her. Justice needs to prevail! Taliyah is family. She is worth the fight. Abuse of ANY KIND is WRONG and EVIL! PLEASE HELP US RESCUE HER!
