At just 13 years old, Aiden should be worrying about school, friends, and having fun, not being far from home while facing something so heavy. He has always been an active kid, involved in school, competing in track and field, playing football, and spending time swimming. Anyone who knows Aiden will tell you how loving and compassionate he is, especially when it comes to animals. Full of energy and kindness, he has long dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.
But for the past five months, Aiden has been hospitalized after the Powell family received the heartbreaking news that he was diagnosed with lymphoma. This diagnosis has turned their world upside down, bringing not only emotional pain but also an overwhelming financial burden.
As a close friend, I have witnessed the incredible strength and resilience of the Powell family during this difficult time. However, they now need the support of our community more than ever. The costs associated with treatment are overwhelming. The family is facing mounting medical bills for hospital accommodation and treatments, along with everyday expenses such as food and living costs. Both parents remain by Aiden's side daily, supporting him and praying for his recovery.
Before their world was turned upside down, Aiden's father, Dafton, worked long seasons in Maine's Restaurant community, while his mother, Ashale, taught at a school in Jamaica. Together, they built a stable life for their children. Sadly, Aiden's diagnosis brought Dafton home early, and Ashale had to resigned from her job when Aiden was transferred more than 211 km from home to a hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, so she could care for him.
After returning home to Jamaica, Dafton actively searched for work in the hotel industry to help support his family. Unfortunately, due to the passing of Hurricane Melissa in October 2025, many hotels were forced to close, leaving him unable to secure employment and further limiting his ability to assist financially during this critical time.
By coming together to help, we can ease some of this burden and allow Aiden's family to focus on what matters most: Aiden's health and recovery.
With your support, Aiden can be transferred to a hospital in the United States to receive more advanced medical treatment and specialized care. Thank you for considering a donation. Your support will help Aiden and his family stay strong during this challenging time. Every contribution counts, and even sharing this message makes a difference.
