A 13th century drama based on a true feminist icon

If you don’t know me, Hi! My name is Sorcha and I’m an actress/creative, with my co creative & actor Florian Hencher,

We are raising funds to make a short historical drama based on the true story of Isabella De Fortibus, accidentally the wealthiest Heiress in 13th century England.

This powerful, feminist film hopes to inspire and educate about this incredible lesser known historical female figure.

Summary: Isabella was 26 when she inherited what she never thought possible. Married at 11, widowed at 23, and her brother dying three years later lead to her owning about 1/3rd of England in 1264. Her newly found wealth and power ended up leaving her incredibly vulnerable. Her estate was very appealing to any nobleman looking to make his way up in the world.

Although Women did not have to marry by law this did not stop attempted kidnappings by men who would force her hand. She escaped kidnappings, evaded suitors, outwitted kings, navigated politicians and had her own army at her fingertips. Despite every effort to take it all from her she kept control of her lands until the bitter end.

We have been granted permission to film in the real historical location where she lived. Her main residence Carisbrooke Castle and Arreton Manor which she owned over 800 years ago. We have reenactment group “Wolfguard” who have very generously teamed up with us for a siege scene.

With such an ambitious project we will need as much help as we can get which is where the go fund me comes in.

Although we have had so many charitable offers from supporters who have made this possible we want the film to have a chance at festivals meaning more help required.

Your donations will go towards location fees, costume, props, transport & accommodation for actors, catering.

Every ounce of budget will be used to make this film a spectacle. We appreciate every donation.
