HOW’D YOU SLEEP?
Picture this: it’s 3:00 am. You’re lying in bed in a puddle of stress-sweat. You’re counting the dots in the popcorn ceiling wondering for the thousandth time if your parent’s divorce was lowkey your fault. We’ve all had sleepless nights like these. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of them (3:00 am and I are on a first-name basis). Fortunately for the entire world, it’s in this exact sweaty restlessness that I “dreamt” up (get it?) my forthcoming, sophomore short film. You’re welcome, in advance. And, THANK YOU, in advance, for contributing to this go-fund-me to help me make it. To pay the glorious artists who are helping me bring my vision to life. Filmmaking can be a nightmare (again, get it?). So please consider helping me make the process a little more peaceful, by contributing, sharing and telling your friends about this campaign.
We’re not starting from scratch here; me and my producing partner, the incomparable Charlotte Lytle, were lucky enough to receive a small grant from Stella’s Place, a mental health organization that provides free, innovative mental health services for young adults living in Toronto. As a queer person living with mental illness, I am committed to using my unique perspective to create work that resonates with audiences and touches hearts. We are looking for additional funding to specifically fulfill honorariums for our collaborators (production designers, camera team, wardrobe, hair and makeup, techs and grips, sound, post etc! You know the people!).
ABOUT THE FILM:
HOW’D YOU SLEEP? is an absurdist slice-of-life exploration of one person’s battle with chronic insomnia. Our main character, let’s call them Dreamer, has the nightly misfortune of tossing and turning, lucid dreams that jolt them awake, racing thoughts and racing heartbeats. Throughout what might be one night, or might be a year, we get a glance at the surreal, frustrating, humiliating, ridiculous ways that Dreamer tries to cope - and ultimately tries to fall back asleep.

Glassman has been honing their craft since studying at Second City in Toronto and is committed to continuing to develop both their narrative and comedic skills. They are a firm believer in collaboration and strive to create an inclusive and respectful environment on set.
Their directorial debut, "This Time With Feeling," had an exciting festival run: awarded Best International Special Mention at the BFI Future Film Festival, Best International Film at Concordia Film Festival, and was an Official Selection at several other festivals.
Your contribution will not only help us create this film, but it will also support the arts and the importance of exploring the human experience through film. Donate today and help us make history! Or at least a really cool short.
THANK YOU!!
