Zazu's hospital stay
Donation protected

If you know me at all, you probably know Zazz. He's a 10/10 good boy, usually fat, usually seen around parties at my house begging for foods and attentions. Zazz has been steadily losing weight and not eating as much as usual for a few weeks now- I initially attributed this to the fact that I took a vacation and he spent a week with my parents in an environment he's not entirely used to, so I scheduled a vet appointment kind of non-stat and had been feeding him homemade dog food in the meantime. We visited the vet yesterday morning to get him checked out, and his BUN and creatinine were through the roof. My good boy has severe kidney damage. He spent last night at MVES in Mission to receive fluids and to have testing to figure out what caused this. We are still waiting on tests and he's likely to spend at least another night there. He's not in any pain, he has been in good spirits, and he's so far been responding to fluids so I'm hopeful that we'll bring him home.
Unfortunately, kidney damage cannot be reversed. This is likely a lifelong diagnosis for him, and it's gonna mean some big changes are coming our way. I can handle the future medical costs as they come, but this hospital stay is a bit of a shock for us, and it could be extended. If you're close to me, you might know that 2018 has not been my year, and has included a cancer diagnosis, a genetic cancer syndrome diagnosis, multiple big expensive repairs on my stupid car, etc. I can and have handled all of this up until now, but this... this is a new hell I've never experienced. Anything helps. My birthday is coming up and if you were thinking of bringing me booze, consider donating for Zazu instead- I'll be forever grateful, and so will he! I will update when I know more about his condition. Good and healing vibes appreciated. Thank you, and I love you.
