Our IVF Adventure

You might know us as Bug and Blaze, Emily and Lauren, or some combination of the two, or you might not even know us at all. However it is you've landed on this page, and whoever we are to you, let us tell you our story and why we're looking for IVF help.
We met at Girl Scout camp over 20 years ago, where we spent many summers making kids laugh and creating camp magic for weeks on end. We've given campers their moment to shine, turned their insecurities into strengths, and helped them grow into strong young women. After getting married back in 2020, we're now ready to use our camp magic and life experiences to share with a child of our own in a family of our own.
After two years of testing, fertility clinics, and an array of doctors, we've learned that IVF is our only option for starting our own biological family. Given our ages, it will likely take several attempts. Each attempt will cost us approximately $30,000 out-of-pocket, as IVF is not at all covered by insurance.
Sounds crazy, right? It's no joke. Here's the breakdown:
- Supplements before starting a cycle: $200
- Medication for each cycle: $4,500
- Ultrasounds (several per cycle): $200 each
- Blood Test: $150
- Pre-Testing: $1,670
- IVF Procedure: $15,950
- Anesthesia: $500
- PGT Testing: $200 per embryo (hopefully several embryos per cycle)
- ICSI: $2,000
- Embryo Transfer: $4,500
- Semen Freeze and Storage: $700 annually
- FDA required 7-day testing: $680
Again, none of this is covered by insurance, and we have to pay entirely out-of-pocket. These costs are on top of the thousands of dollars we've already spent on clinic visits, legal fees, genetic testing, donor testing, mandatory psych evaluations, and therapy (this has been a lot to deal with!).
They say it takes a village, and we're hoping ours can help make this happen for us.
