Please, help us raise money for the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of North Central Florida.

Our son Zane was born on 9/28/15 with Down Syndrome. A week after birth he was found to have 3 heart defects, a VSD, ASD, and a PDA. The cardiologist was hopeful that the defects would heal but unfortunately at the 6 week checkup they found out he will require open heart surgery. Zane will be in a hospital over an hour from our home for 1-2 weeks. The latest the surgery will take place will be January 2016 and there is a chance he will be in the hospital recovering during his first Christmas. We do  not find out exactly when the surgery will be until after December 1st. In the meantime, Zane is taking medication to remove excess fluid from his lungs that is accumulating due to the heart defects until surgery can fix the problems.

When Zane goes in for surgery we will be staying at the RMH.  We are unfortunately financially unable to donate any money to the RMH.  I have been a stay at home Dad for our 2 year old Evelina, and Beth has been our only income.   Beth took off 8 weeks maternity leave after Zane was born and only got 60% pay for 5 of those weeks.  She will likely need to take more time off unpaid for Zane's surgery.

We are wanting to raise $700 to donate to the RMH. If you are unfamiliar, the RMH is basically a home like environment and place to de-stress for the parents of children that are hospitalized - within walking distance of the hospital. The RMH is totally funded by donations and the nightly cost of a room is $100.  The RMH asks for donations of $15 a night to help offset this cost. We stayed at a RMH in Orlando when our daughter was having MRI's of her brain.   We only needed to stay one night and we donated $50.  We would like to continue that and donate $700 regardless of whether we end up staying the potential 2 weeks in the hospital for Zane's recovery. If the $700 is met, we will use anything above and beyond towards Zane's medical bills. In the event that we raise more than Zane's medical bills, we will donate the rest to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida.
