Continued support for Zakk Gossett still despratly needed.
As most of you know, I was successful in getting the Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola, Fl. to not only transport Zakk to a facility in Texas, but they also paid for his entire medical transport, which I and his family attribute that to many many prayers that yes got answered. Praise God. He is now in Lubbock at a place called The Plaza at Lubbock, it's a retirement community. Unfortunately it is not a place where he will get everything he needs in the line of physical therapy. He needs to be a resident of Texas for 6 months minimum in order to qualify for specific funding for specific rehabilitation catering to his unique injuries. The downside of that is , the longer he lays in aa bed with no rehab, the worse off his body becomes. He now has completely lost the use of his left hand due to it being twisted completely around in the othèr direction. He can barely move his fingers. I am still 2 hours away from him and try to get there once a week but finances at the moment are still scarce and scheduling is difficult due to my fiances work schedule and the distance. We are trying hard to make it possible to move close to him and are now about two weeks away from that goal. Zakk is in sure dire need of rehabilitatoon rehabilitation and physical therapy. His recovery depends on this . He has had very little no none of what he really needs as a person with a TBI. I have educated myself in some of the techniques and range of motion activities but unless I can do this more than once a week it is a possibility that he could not recover to his potential. Although his doctors in Florida stated that in their careers thwy have never seen someone come back from injuries such as Zakks, I have made it my lifetime commitment to helping my son, but at the moment I need sone Financial assistance to help me do this for him. As a mother facing all these possibilities and outcomes for my son's future , I had decided to end his life support in the very first week after his accident. I know for a fact that Zakk Gossett did not want to be in this state of health if something like this was to ever happen. I had to make the most difficult decision Of My life And somewhere along the way, family and friends dussagreed with me because they were not ready to give up on him. I again say I was concerned because of what would lie ahead for him REALISTICALLY in regards to his care, his medical bills, his housing , and I was in no way financially able to do anything to help, lost my job and almost my car over having to go to side and yet have moved and will be moving again soon all to make good on my commitment to my son. Everyone that knows me knows that I dont hardly ever , ever ask for help in any way. I realize it's Christmas time and I cant do anything to change the timing, but Zakk needs your help, I need your help. If we ever expect Zakk to get better he needs this therapy now more than ever. All I'm asking is a little something from everyone. Even if it's only $5.00 or $10.00 I will put the money towards a hotel so I can be there for 7 days a week for the next couple of weeks so I can diligently work with his arms and legs and get him motivated . I see it in him he's there and wants to get better wants to return to us but we cant do it alone. No one is here going thru this with Zakk, Shawn, and I. No one knows the heartache of a mother with thier child almost paralized and I can barely contain the sadness eating me Alive because I cant be there everyday helping him come back. I want to personally thank the few that have helped in the past month. Because of them I have beem able to be there more than I could have otherwise and thats my brother Steve Smith, my step son David, Dixie and Brittney and last but not least Shawn Ingram. Zakk did qualify for disability but only gets $30.00 a month after the cost of the Plaza is taken out and I am so thankful for that but there are things Zakk needs like a radeo, a tv, socks, stuffed animals ( to hang bybthe ceiling so he can eventually reach for them) and toiletries . I hope that everyone had a great Thanks giving with their families. Shawn and I spent it with Zakk watching the Dallas Cowboy game. I pray that this reaches as many people as possible so it increases my son's chances in his recovery. Thanks again and God bless you all.
Its been awhile since I have updated this site. Most everyone is updated thru Facebook at Zakks friends and family group.
So some of you may know whats going on and some of you may not.
The hospital is telling me that there is no rehabilitation centers in Florida that accept medicaid and the only nursing home that will take him is in Miami Florida. Well that is 10 hours away from any friends or family that he may have so were not sending him there.
I am trying to keep the faith and be positive like everyone suggests that i do and I appreciate all prayers and positive vibes being sent our way. But the reality of it all is Zakk Gossett is my son and he has some severe brain injuries, some of them unfix able and un treatable and he needs around the clock care, however, there is no where to send him. All he has is medicaid insurance and im checking on his social security disability benefits. I am in the process of getting approved to be his caregiver and the state will pay me a salary for taking care of him so that will help. He will need supplies and medications and home health services which all cost money. The biggest obstical at this point is his transportation from Pensacola to Brownwood Tx where we have a 3 bedroom home already handicapped accessible for us to live.
I currently an unemployed and will not be able to have a job because my son will need me 24/7 so any help at all with any donation is greatly needed and appreciated.
The money that had been donated in the past was used for a couple of his hospital bills when he first was in ICU and went towards helping me get to Florida to be with Zakk as well as got some things for his children when i was there. Any money raised from this point on will be for taking care of him.....ie supplies, the cost of transporting him from Florida to Texas, his food, basically anything that is needed for him and at this point i probably have no idea of whats in store for us. But i am keeping the faith like everyone tells me I need to do and I pray for strength to be able to take on this task for my son.

My 26 year old , father of two, one new born baby girl Brenna Danielle and one 7 year old little boy Aiden Daniel, was involved in a terrible car wreck, in where he flipped his convertible mustang. He has undergone surgery on his brain and part of his scull removed to allow room for brain swelling. Is currently in ICU in a medically induced coma.
Zakk recently got a new job making more money than his last job , however, has not been there long enough for his insurance to kick in. And as far as his car is concerned , is totaled and its my understanding had minimum or no insurance at all. All $$$ raised will go to Dr.bills and for his recovery from this horrible tragedy well as any financial need for his mother and his family that has to travel to be here by his side. I thank everyone for any help giving and for their prayers.
