Yuki Kawabata Memorial Fund

I am unbelievably sad to reach out in memorial of my close friend Yukiko Kawabata at the way too young age of 42. She leaves behind her husband, Dan, and two sons, Otis 11 and Yuji 8.

With nothing more than a persistent cough Dan took her to the doctor where she was immediately sent to the emergency room and then the ICU. It was discovered that Yuki had developed blood clots in her lungs and was fighting an uphill battle without even knowing it.

Three brutal weeks in the hospital with numerous emergency surgeries and expensive machines connected to her, Dan's days consisted of getting Otis and Yuji to school in the morning, spending the day at the hospital with Yuki, then picking the boys up from school and taking care of them...every day. His younger brother was able to stay at the house the first few days so he could spend the night at the hospital with Yuki, but he still ran home every day to keep a strong steady presence with the boys during those tough days. All at the expense of his personal health and business.

While he is too proud to ask, please help him as he is trying to now cover a new life raising his kids without his life's partner of 20 years. All while he is battling the powers that be on Yuki's all inclusive stay at the hospital.
