My cousin, one of my best buds on earth is fighting for his life at this very moment. In late 2018, Jimmy was diagnosed with testicular cancer which has since metastasized to his lungs and lymph nodes. Not giving up, he began a very aggressive form of chemotherapy a few weeks ago which is obviously taking a major toll on his body.
Jimmy and I grew up more like brother and sister in New York, and now we're fortunate to live about 20 minutes away from each other in Southern California. I'm pretty lucky that I get to hug him often and sit alongside him at his treatments.
In an effort to support and love Jimmy during this chapter of his life, I will be running the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday, March 24, 2019, through the American Cancer Society on Jim's behalf. Whether it be a turkey trot, a summer family 5k, or a 1/2 marathon in San Diego, Jimmy and I have logged many miles together through the years. Although he won't be alongside me for this race, I will cross the finish line praying that he's lacing up his sneaks and back on his feet soon.
Please join me and to help raise $2,620 for a 26.2-mile race to celebrate Jim's hard work and his dedication to beating his disease.
*The funds raised will be given directly to Jim to pay for the unexpected medical bills and expenses.
Thank you for your support,
Jackie McNally Baker
