Help Strengthen Our Sisters Shelter – A Lifeline for Women & Children in Crisis
For over 50 years, Strengthen Our Sisters has opened its doors to battered women, children, and families escaping domestic violence and homelessness. Founded by Sandra Ramos, one of the first women in the nation to start a shelter for abused women, we’ve stood as a beacon of hope and safety when no one else would listen.
But today, we need your help.
Our shelter is facing a critical funding shortage that threatens our ability to keep the lights on and provide the safe haven that so many families desperately need. Without urgent support, countless women and children will have nowhere to turn.

-We take in the most vulnerable — even those we receive no funding for — who have nowhere else to go.
-We receive little to no government funding and rely on donations from compassionate people like you to keep our doors open.

We believe every woman and child deserves safety, dignity, and a chance to rebuild. Together, we can keep this mission alive.
Here are some things we do need:
Big expenses
Need $60,000, for a required sprinkler system for a beautiful house that is not fed by city water.
Utility bills.
Mortgages.
Insurances $45,000.
Required new twin zippered mattress covers.
Ongoing expenses
All manner of required ongoing upkeep, licensing fees, certifications fees, inspections fees, paying accountant to file yearly audit, fire extinguisher inspections, phones, pest inspections, etc., etc.
We need vehicles for people to get to work, school, health appointments, move in emergencies, move out and on their way, etc. Donor is given IRS acknowledgment of donation to a nonprofit for nonprofit organization's mission. It helps if donor can also donate the $60 title transfer fee, the $46.50 for registration, and to get car insurance started.
We need refrigerators, stoves, cabinets, bunkbeds, lightbulbs, 1-ply toilet paper, reams of copy paper, copier toner, etc.
Everything we can do for people currently, and for those who will need us in the future.
