Support a Future Black, Trans Birth Worker

My name is YJ and I’m a 28 year old Black, Jewish trans woman who aspires to promote radical reproductive justice through a career as a future doula and midwife. I have repurposed this crowdfunding page as a way for my community to participate in advancing reproductive justice for Black, Gender-Expansive, and/or Jewish families by donating towards my education. Your donations will be used towards continuing my education in the form of doula training and formal midwifery education. These funds may also help cover associated costs, such as equipment.

The United States is the only so-called “developed” nation in which more women are dying each year in childbirth. If you are a Black woman, this chance increases 4-fold. While it is clear that were need more diversity in the work of birth and family planning, the cost of education can be an undue barrier for someone of marginalized identity, like me, to both access education and support their family.
