Helping the 55 Fam: Yilma & Sam
Good morning, it’s a beautiful day! How are you today?
Sound like someone you know? Yeah, me too. I miss hearing that cheerful voice in the morning. How is he so chipper so early?
I'm talking about Yilma, of course. If you're thinking that he hasn't been around much (at all) lately, you'd be right. Yilma's mother recently suffered a stroke. As a result, Yilma has taken unpaid leave from work to care for her and step in to run her Adult Foster Home while she recovers. The AFH is up for recert, too, so there are some long days being put in.
Despite recently moving over to Randall's, Sam has long been an involved and awesome member of our Unit 55 family. She has had to miss work in her new role at RCH in order to support her and Yilma's family needs and care for their four kiddos - while also taking A&P and nursing pre-req's. She is spending hours driving anytime she has to work or drop the kids off - Milwaukie to Forest Grove to Mulino and back to work. She’s also trying to learn the most efficient way to cook for not only her and Yilma and their four kids, but also his mom, brother, niece, and the residents.
And then just sprinkle on some COVID-19 challenges, because it has impacted everyone. They are about to be homeschooling on top of it - with our Unit 55 baby, of course. Maybe she can be a TA?
It's time to rally around two of the most compassionate, hardworking, and selfless people most of us have ever met. I know fundraisers like these are supposed to have a specific monetary goal, but guys, we really just need to rally around them.
RENT. GROCERIES. GAS. LOST WAGES.
Rent, groceries, and gas alone will easily run them $3000 a month - and Sam is only working part-time.
Click that donate button if you are able to help out. Donate some APL if that's your thing.
We have the opportunity to rally around and lift up two people who never say no and would give you the scrubs off their backs. LET'S DOOO ITTT!
You have a blessed day.
